Throughout its history, HST has made long-term financial commitments and pledges to a wide variety of social and cultural organizations throughout Maryland, as well as to hundreds of non-profits throughout the region that assist women, children, veterans, the hungry, homeless, disabled, indigent, and those in need of medical services. When Stuart Forchheimer founded the company he made a commitment to give back to the communities in which HST operates.
Taking a break from the day to day responsibilities to directly help those families in need, the company participates in the annual Marine Corps Reserve “Toys for Tots” program. The goal is to help the less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children. For three months each year our dedicated staff works diligently during the annual toy collection to help campaign and raise toy donations for local chapters throughout the region. HS Technology Group is also a collection location for Toys for Tots.
By now, everyone has probably seen at least parts of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover”. The program enlists the help of local contractors to assist with the design and construction of a home that is built in seven days for a well deserved needy family. When HST received the call for their help in July of 2010, the HST team knew it was something they just had to do. ABC selected Baltimore for the shows largest project – an 11,000 square footer for the non-profit group “Boys Hope, Girls Hope”, located in Baltimore City. The episode had the dubious designation of being the first time the show was unable to complete the project in the trademark seven day deadline. “It was quite an accomplishment for us to have virtually all of our technicians together on one job at the same time. Our dedicated staff put aside their personal life during the middle of summer; to make these organizations dreams come true. We were able to prove to ourselves that anything is possible and what we accomplished will stay with us forever”, said Mark Recene.
HST continues to contribute to other organizations and supports their trade partners, builders and even customers when asked for the company’s support for their charitable events. Whether it has been providing, equipment, services or even hosting events at their facility, HST has remained a constant supporter to their friends and colleagues and will continue to do so however they can.
HST has been involved in providing low voltage integration for Rose of Sharon Equestrian School (ROSES) since 2007. Most recently we have been involved in working on the new indoor riding arena. The letter we recently received from the Executive Director sums it up.
Dear Stuart,
I wanted to express my deepest gratitude for the work your company is doing at Rose of Sharon Equestrian SchooL We are excited to watch the cobweb of specialty wiring crisscross the arena and stable ceilings in preparation of even greater things to come. Knowing our horses and facility will be safer because of the security your technology will provide; knowing our students and their parents will be connected in ways presently unimaginable; knowing our instructors and therapists will have state of the art capability at their fingertips is a dream come true!
What your company is providing for this program borders on the magicaL You are like a fairy godfather!
All of this could not happen were it not for the crew of technicians and mechanics you have been sending to the farm. This had to be one of the more challenging installations they have encountered. Not only have they had to deal with the dusty environment of a stable attic and a very tall arena, but they have also had to maneuver around the schedules of students with special needs and horses!
I wanted you to know they have handled the situation admirably. They have been courteous, accommodating, and have taken great care in leaving the work area as they found it. Maybe that is what you expect from all your employees all the time .. . but I want to emphasize that how these men have conducted themselves has been beyond expectation ... to our students, volunteers, and staff (and even the horses!) they have been friendly, sensitive, and interested. When Liz contacts us to say there will be more work done, and I pass this on to everyone involved, we all look forward to seeing the crew arrive! Knowing first-hand what we are juggling out here, you must realize how special this is. So please, thank everyone for us!
Very truly yours,
Joan Twining, Executive Director
